General Average

General Average is an institution of maritime law: if, to save the ship and cargo, part of the property is deliberately sacrificed or expenses are incurred, these losses are distributed among all participants in the voyage in proportion to the value of their property.

When general average is declared, the cargo consignee may be asked to post security (a general average contribution) before the goods are released. Cargo insurance usually covers the share in general average.

We will help you understand the situation and arrange the release of the cargo.
