Flat rate of customs duties and taxes
The flat rate of customs duties and taxes is a simplified way of calculating charges for goods for personal use when the duty-free import allowances are exceeded. Instead of duty and VAT by HS code, a flat rate is applied to the value or to the amount of the excess.
The flat rate spares the individual from classification by HS code. For some goods (for example, cars) separate rate tables apply.
