Mate's receipt

A Mate's receipt is a document by which the chief mate confirms the actual receipt of cargo on board with notes on its condition. The bill of lading is issued on the basis of the mate's receipt.

Notes in the mate's receipt about damage (a "dirty" receipt) affect the "cleanliness" of the bill of lading and insurance claims. The document matters in disputes over the condition of the cargo at loading.

We will accompany loading and cargo clearance.
