Customs declaration (DT)

The customs declaration (DT) is the principal document of customs clearance, in which information is declared about the goods, their HS code, customs value, country of origin and customs payments.

The DT is filed with customs electronically. Based on the data declared in it, customs payments are calculated and paid, and the customs authority makes the decision to release the goods.

One main sheet of the DT describes one item (one commodity position); a supplementary sheet is drawn up for each additional item. Errors in the declaration lead to document requests, adjustments and delayed release, so its completion is usually entrusted to a customs representative.
