HS code (TN VED)
The HS code is the classification code of a product under the unified Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity of the EAEU. It determines the duty rate, VAT and the list of required permit documents.
The code is assigned based on the characteristics of the goods: composition, purpose and method of manufacture. An incorrect code leads to a wrong calculation of payments, additional charges and fines, and sometimes to the absence of the required permit documents at the moment of release.
To reduce the risk of a dispute with customs, a preliminary classification decision can be obtained for complex goods. Correct selection of the HS code is one of the key stages in preparing for customs clearance.
