Special safeguard duty
A special safeguard duty is a measure to protect the domestic market against increased imports that harm an industry. It is levied in addition to the ordinary import duty by decision of the EEC.
Alongside safeguard duties, anti-dumping and countervailing duties are applied; all of them are introduced for specific goods and countries. It is important to check in advance whether a shipment falls under such a measure.
