Customs expert examination
Customs expert examination is the study of goods, documents, and samples by customs experts to resolve questions of classification (HS code), composition, origin, or value during customs control.
It is ordered, for example, when there are doubts about the code or characteristics of the goods. The results affect duties and release, so they can be challenged if the importer disagrees.
