Demurrage and detention

Demurrage and detention are charges for the over-use of a container. Demurrage accrues for a container standing in the port beyond the free time, while detention is charged for holding it outside the port until it is returned to the line.

To avoid these costs it is important to clear customs quickly and return the empty container on time. Delays with documents directly increase demurrage and detention.

We speed up clearance to minimise idle time and charges.
