Goods classification decision
A goods classification decision is an act of the customs authority assigning goods to a particular HS code. It may be taken during control or on application (including for complex/assembled goods) and affects the duty rate.
If customs changes the code to a less favourable one, payments rise — such a decision can be challenged based on the goods' characteristics and an expert examination. A preliminary decision helps reduce the risk in advance.
